Poem Writing: Hints and Tips

For the fantastic LEGO® Friends Jungle Poem competition, you need to write a poem about the rainforest, but where do you start?

1. Decide what you want to write about

Do you want to write about the whole rainforest, maybe one particular animal, or about something that happens in the rainforest. You could write about...

The Rainforest as a habitat - What is the climate like? What kind of animals live there? Where are the biggest rainforests?

Rainforest Animals - A lot of animals live in the rainforest so take your pick! Maybe you want to write about a slithering boa constrictor, a bright toucan or magnificent tiger, there are lots to choose from!

Threat to rainforests - Every minute a rainforest the size of 3 football pitches is cut down! You could write about how hard it will be for plants and animals to find new homes, if rainforests aren't protected.
