We all know what a panda looks like, but did you know these facts about the unusual animal?

  The Chinese word for Panda is Da Xiong Mao meaning Giant Bear Cat.

99% of a pandas diet is bamboo, but they sometimes eat insects, bugs and other plants.

Wild pandas live in the mountains in some parts of China in cold and rainy bamboo forests.

An adult panda is around 1.5 meters long, they live to be up to 25 years old.

Pandas can spend up to 16 hours a day eating.

Pandas are an endangered species. This means that there are so few of them in the wild that they could become extinct and disappear from the planet.

Pandas are good climbers, sometimes they are so comfortable in trees, they fall asleep in them.

Pandas also were considered symbols of might and bravery.

Pandas sometimes do somersaults. They do this as it’s hard for them to walk quickly and also because it’s fun!
