The Eiffel Tower is an iconic monument in Paris, the capital city of France.

The Eiffel Tower officially opened on 31 March 1889 - That's over 120 years ago!

It is also known as, the 'Magician of Iron', La Tour Eiffel and The Iron Lady.

It took 2 years, 2 months and 5 days from start to finish, to build the tower.

The Eiffel Tower stands 324 metres tall.

Approximately 60 tonnes of paint is needed to cover the Eiffel Tower and paint brushes are still used even today.

The Eiffel Tower shrinks 6 inches in winter.

There are  1710 steps to the highest level, 674 steps to the second level, and 347 steps to the first level, all counted from the ground.

There are over 30 replica's (copies) of the Eiffel Tower around the world. Two can be found at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel in America and the Tokyo Tower in Japan.

The Tower is painted every 7 years, and takes nearly 2 years to paint the whole thing! They use 3 different shades of brown the darkest at the bottom.
