Egg & Spoon Race Tips

On 4 March 2012 Help for Heroes are having an egg and spoon race egg-stravaganza on Clapham Common in London to raise lots of money!

Help for Heroes want YOU and your classmates to hold your own egg and spoon races to help them raise money! All you need is an egg and a spoon!

Here are some top tips to help you prepare for your big race!

In the week leading up to the big race, make sure you practice - all you need is a boiled egg and a spoon. Start by walking slowly in a straight line. Next try a gentle jog and then work up to a run. Add in a couple of obstacles to make it more of a challenge!

On the big day, make sure you get the best start with a good breakfast…. of eggs! Not only will they give you lots of energy to help you win the race, but they’ll keep you feeling full up until lunch as well! Why not try our boiled eggs and soldiers recipe?

Make sure you warm up properly before the race to prevent injury. Start with 10 star jumps, followed by running on the spot for 1 minute. Repeat 3 times.

After you’ve warmed up a bit, you now need to stretch! Start by reaching down and touching your toes. Try to stay down for 8 seconds.  Next, reach up high and touch the sky. Hold this pose for 8 seconds. Repeat 3 times.

Make sure you remember to warm down after the race with a few stretches as well!
